Off Belay Bags

Melanie takes retired climbing ropes and transforms them into treasures.

Living in Pennsylvania and hailing from the mountains of Montana, Melanie has been a maker/creator since childhood. For the past 18 years, she worked as a professional seamstress making bags. Now she repairs Patagonia bags. This aligns with her love of keeping usable items from the trash. She has been climbing just as long, mostly indoors, with a few trips recently outdoors. Her imagination and creativity are sparked by the adventures climbing ropes have lived.

Climb Rinse Repeat

Melanie's full time job is doing repair work on Patagonia gear, specifically bags. She also teaches classes at the climbing gym. Showing new lead climbers how to handle the ropes. Her hands have a lot of hands-on experience with ropes and bags.
