This image was created using a biological research technique known as "clearing and staining." This technique uses a series of chemicals to stain different tissues specific colors (i.e, bone is stained purplish red and cartilage is stained blue), while dissolving other tissues away or making them look transparent. This specific piece is called Predator and Prey and depicts a scene of several species found along the Eastern US (and elsewhere), including Largemouth Bass, Blue Catfish, Bluegill, Redbreast Sunfish, White Perch, Gizzard Shad, and Fowler's Toad. This piece includes a black floating frame, as depicted in the second image.

Comes ready to hang with a premium lamination to enhance the colors and protect the canvas. Price includes shipping directly from the printer to your address; contact NoahBressman@gmail.com for pricing outside of the US.

Care Instructions

Just hang on the wall and enjoy! While this product has a coating that will significantly enhance the life of the artwork and reduce color fading, I recommend not hanging this piece outdoors in an unprotected area or in direct sunlight. I have never had an issue with colors fading in light in my 8 years of making artwork (the 8 year old pieces still hold their colors excellently), but avoiding direct sun exposure for all wall art, in general, will help the colors stay vibrant for as long as you stay vibrant!

Message from the Artist

The original version of this piece was developed in collaboration with a LB the Poet based out of Winston-Salem, NC, for a charity art auction to raise money for a local public school that used art in innovative ways to teach students a variety of subjects. Working with LB really put me out of my comfort zone (in a great way), leading to this piece being one of my first ones that tell a story, rather than just depicting the coolness of anatomy. Since then, I have taken those lessons to heart and many of my newer pieces veer off into new and excited territories as I learn more about myself as an artist and explore more. I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I do!
